Mr.
Alireza Imani went on hunger strike on Feb. 18.2009. Today it is 34th
day of his hunger strike. He initially was kept at ZEST CENTEROM, then
they transferred him to ROTERDAM and finally to
HAAG prison. He is
kept in a solitary confinement with lights 24 hours on, which is
depriving him from sleep. He has to try to catch sleep by using
eye-cover.
Sleep deprivation is harming his physical and mental health.

Nadat we vanaf maandag 23 maart niets meer van hem hadden vernomen, kwamen dinsdag middag twee partijgenoten van Imani langs. Ze hadden telefonisch van hem gehoord dat hij er lichamelijk heel slecht aan toe was, maar dat hij had besloten om nogmaals geen suiker meer te nemen. Hij had ook tegen hen gezegd dat, als jullie niets meer van mij horen, dan betekent dat, dat ik in coma ben geraakt. In overleg met zijn vrienden is er toen besloten om zo snel mogelijk een vertrouwensarts te regelen en om een demonstratie te gaan organiseren.
Omdat mijn collega Fredy Winters en onze twee stagiaires Assya en Mimount bij hem op bezoek zouden gaan op woensdag 25 maart, wachtte ik ( Ahmed Pouri ) af hoe zij hem zouden aantreffen.
Hier is hun verslag.
“ Vanmiddag ben ik met twee stagiaires van Prime, Assya en Mimount in het penitentiair ziekenhuis Den Haag geweest om de heer Ali Reza Imani te bezoeken. Wij zaten al in de bezoekersruimte toen hij even later werd binnengebracht. Duidelijk was te zien hoe verzwakt en hoe mager hij was. Het ijs was al heel snel gebroken en Ali Reza begon als een waterval te praten. Het eerste wat hij ons vertelde was, dat hij was gestopt met zijn hongerstaking. Wij waren totaal verrast, omdat we wisten dat hij tot het bittere einde door zou gaan. Gisteren heeft hij contact gehad met zijn Zuid-Azerbeidjaanse Onafhankelijkheids Partij en ook was er contact geweest met een minister, zo vertelde hij met vertrouwen en hoop. Ze hebben hem verzocht te stoppen met zijn hongerstaking. Hij heeft dit gerespecteerd en gisteren om vier uur was het einde van de hongerstaking. Ik heb Ali Reza gevraagd waarom hij ons gisteren niet meer heeft gebeld (dit was namelijk zijn dagelijkse gewoonte) en hij zei dat hij ons wilde bellen ,maar dat, op de een of andere vreemde manier hem dat niet mogelijk werd gemaakt. Ik heb hem nog verteld over de vertrouwensarts, maar dat zal niet meer nodig zijn. Hij heeft veel verteld over zijn politieke leven en ik heb hem op een gegeven moment gevraagd of hij niet moe werd. Hij moest lachen en zei dat het lang geleden was dat hij zo’n goed gevoel had. Hij vertelde ons dat, toen hij in Teheran in de beruchte, strenge Evin gevangenis zat en daar een hongerstaking deed, hij in zijn isoleercel wel t.v. mocht kijken. Dit is voor hem hier helemaal onmogelijk gemaakt en dat was een grote schok voor hem. Het was voor mij heel duidelijk dat het stoppen van de hongerstaking hem euforisch maakte, hij was eigenlijk een beetje in trance. Het leek alsof hij een marathon had gelopen. “
Om alle stukjes van de puzzel op de goede plaats te krijgen moest ik eerst wachten op Imani’s telefoon en contact krijgen met zijn vrienden van de partij. Er moest duidelijkheid komen over welke minister het ging en welke beloftes hem zijn gedaan.

Zoals u ziet gaat het niet om een brief van een minister, maar om een standaard antwoord van postbus 51.
Uit alle brieven van zijn partij kun je opmaken dat ze erg teleurgesteld zijn in de Nederlandse bureaucratie en het inhumane vreemdelingenbeleid. Toen ze hebben gehoord over zijn situatie van dat moment hebben ze hem zover gekregen dat hij ging stoppen met zijn hongerstaking.

Gisteren heeft Imani ons verteld dat hij in totaal 5 of 6 keer is benaderd door de IND met als doel hem te laten stoppen met zijn hongerstaking. Maandag 23 maart kwamen ze ook weer , maar zijn reactie was dat hij ging stoppen met de inname van suiker.
Situatie van andere gedetineerden.
Sorab Kiladze vreest dat hij maandag uitgezet gaat worden en hij is erg bang en wanhopig.
Over de groep van vier gedetineerden in Rotterdam, die ook in Schiphol waren, houden we jullie volgende week verder op de hoogte.

De toestand van de hongerstaker Ali Reza Imani is bijzonder slecht, hij is gisteren twee keer flauw gevallen. Hij heeft ook een paar keer een bloedneus gehad. Zijn haar is al erg uitgevallen, hij heeft vaak erge buikpijn, hoofdpijn en pijn in zijn botten. Zijn ogen en concentratie gaan hard achteruit. Het kritische punt is zeer nabij.
Werkwijze IND bij hongerstakingen
De heer Imani zou ons volgens afspraak iedere dag bellen, maar vanaf maandag heeft hij niet meer gebeld. Dat is zorgwekkend. PRIME weet uit ervaring dat, wanneer hongerstakers het kritische punt bereiken, de IND gaat proberen de hongerstakers van hun ondersteuners en bekenden te isoleren. Op het moment dat ze niet meer helder kunnen denken slaat de IND toe. De IND maakt ze blij met een dood vogeltje of oefent zoveel druk uit dat ze uit wanhoop gaan stoppen. De IND heeft een doel en dat is om de actie te breken. De symptomen worden bestreden , maar de problemen niet vanuit de basis op een humane manier opgelost.
Sorab Kirzadze
Uit medische wanhoop is Sorab Kirzadze vandaag begonnen met een hongerstaking. Uit onze gesprekken is gebleken dat hij erg depressief is, zijn medicatie tegen de Hepatitus-C wordt niet gegeven omdat er nog steeds uitzetting dreigt. Hij voelt dat alsof men hem een langzame dood laat sterven. Hij is op 19 februari ook in zijn lever geschopt.
Ibrahim Hassan
Ibrahim Hassan is eind vorige week zonder dat iemand iets gehoord heeft opgehaald en uitgezet. Hij is degene die op 19 februari vreselijk geslagen is . De informatie is op onze website te vinden: http://www.prime95.nl/MainW/?p=23
Aziz Makhtoumov
Aziz Makhtoumov wordt binnenkort gepresenteerd bij de ambassade van Tajikistan om zijn uitreispapieren te regelen, terwijl zijn familie hier in een asielprocedure verwikkeld is vanwege zeer serieuze problemen door hun politieke achtergrond.
Groep Rotterdam
De groep Rotterdam bestond uit 6 asielzoekers, die na 18 februari 2009 naar het detentiecentrum in Zeist werden gebracht. Daarna werden ze naar het uitzetcentrum Zestienhoven gebracht. Een van hen was Ali Reza Imani, die vanwege zijn honger-en dorststaking naar het penetentiair ziekenhuis in Scheveningen werd gebracht. Van de rest kregen wij tot vandaag geen bericht. Ze bleken geen telefoonkaart te hebben. Wij hebben dat geregeld en zullen van hen morgen bericht krijgen over wat er met hen is gebeurd.
De IND heeft kennelijk nog steeds als doel zoveel mogelijk mensen uit te zetten zonder oog te hebben voor de mensenrechtensituatie.

They are in hunger strike to protest not getting reply for their applications, threats of deportation, and the terrible condition of the prison. They are held at Bepentie centrum-Tenpo l64-1438 EJ Oudemeer Among these 31 people is Mr. Alireza Imani, an active member of South Azerbaijani Independence Party. We believe he is being held at Uitzet centrum, Rotterdam ,Eirport baan in Netherlands . He too is threatened to be deported to Iran . We are very disappointed to know that from February 20th, 2009 he is being kept in the solitary confinement. After he was transferred to Den Haag facilities, he was kept naked in a cold cell. That is very inhumane. Today, it is the 30th day that Mr. Alireza Imani is on hunger strike. He is kept alone with no visitation rights. He is in a small cell, alone with only a one visit a day by a doctor. His health condition is serious and getting worse. He has lost over third of his body weight. He has difficulty moving his right arm and left leg. He digestive system is failing. He is being tortured by sleep deprivation, by keeping the lights on day and night. His nose is bleeding and his bowel movement is bloody. He is suffering from a heavy headache and has difficulty with speech. His eyes are blurring from weakness. He filed down once on 18 March 2009 from weakness. All his body is aching and might go to coma anytime from weakness. He is in need of medical attention. He is punished for defending his and his friend's rights. We believe it is against Netherlands ', Europe 's and world's standards of human rights to punish a person who's life is dedicated for human rights and freedom. We are certain he will be tortured and killed by Iranian Terrorist authorities upon deportation. On March16, 2009 we organized a rally in front of Netherlands embassy in London England to voice our concern. Persbericht 16 maart 2009 26 dagen hongerstaking in Detentiecentrum Schiphol en Penitentiair Ziekenhuis te Den Haag.
PRIME wordt dagelijks gebeld door gevangenen uit beide centra. Er zijn nog twee hongerstakers en de heer Ali Reza Imani in Den Haag is inmiddels 11 kilo afgevallen. Hij wordt iedere dag bekeken door een arts en hij heeft overal pijn. Toen hij vandaag belde klaagde hij over problemen aan zijn linker been, linker arm en maag. Hij is nog steeds in isolatie en heeft geen t.v. in zijn cel. Dit is weer een gevolg van de hongerstaking. Hij heeft vandaag wel twee boeken gekregen, maar het ontbreekt hem nu aan goede concentratie gezien zijn situatie.
Tot nu toe is er 3 keer contact tussen de IND en de heer Ali Reza Imani. Geen inhoudelijke gesprek , maar alleen om zijn wil te breken. Er werd ook gevraagd : Heb jij nog steeds contact met Prime en Ahmed Pouri? De IND kan zich beter concentreren om de werkelijke problemen op te lossen te luisteren naar de redenen van de hongerstaking: onschuldige mensen moeten niet opgesloten blijven. Amnesty International Europa heeft een zeer kritisch rapport uitgebracht over de detentiesituatie van vreemdelingen in Nederland.De VAJN heeft op 6 maart 2009 bij de voorzieningenrechter in Haarlem zich uitermate kritisch uitgelaten over de wijze waarop vreemdelingen van hun vrijheid worden beroofd.
Detentiecentrum Schiphol
Tijdens de acties van Nederlandse groepen is het de gevangenen verboden om een uur naar de luchtplaats te gaan. Ze werden zelfs naar een hoekje in een gang gebracht om niets te kunnen zien. De ramen van hun cel moesten dicht en werden geblindeerd. De gevangenen zijn blij met de acties en wakes buiten en voelen zich hierdoor gesterkt.
Er zijn velen met lichamelijke klachten. Aziz heeft een afspraak met een psycholoog en Sorab wil graag dat de arts hem medicijnen voorschrijft.
Maawll Mohammad Ali uit Somalie dreigt op korte termijn uitgezet te worden naar zijn geboorteplaats Mogadishu. Voorzover ons bekend wordt er niemand uitgezet naar Somalie, dit vanwege onveiligheid aldaar. Er bestaat een categoriaal beschermingsbeleid ten aanzien van in ieder geval Mogadishu. Bevindingen advocate Alie Westerhuis Vrijdag 13 maart heeft de advocate Alie Westerhuis de heer Imani in het penetentiare ziekenhuis in Scheveningen bezocht: “ Hij is volgens mij door de hongerstaking zodanig verzwakt dat hij praktisch niet meer kan lopen. Hij blijkt, zo vertelde hij, in een klein kamertje te liggen gelijk een isoleercel. Hij mag geen t.v. kijken en krijgt dus feitelijk een behandeling alsof hij een zware misdadiger is. Daar ligt hij dus, alleen, 24 uur van de dag. Zijn asieldossier geeft mij alleszins reden een herhaalde asielaanvraag in te dienen. Daarvoor heb ik hem gisterenmiddag al telefonisch gemeld bij de IND. Juist omdat hij als activist bekend staat is het voor hem onmogelijk terug te keren naar zijn land van herkomst, te weten Iran. De stelling van de IND, dat de Iraanse autoriteiten niet op de hoogte hoeven te zijn van zijn activiteiten is een drogreden, alsof de Iraanse autoriteiten hier in Nederland zitten te slapen. Aanstaande maandag wordt er in Engeland een demonstratie voor hem gehouden bij de Nederlandse ambassade dit tegen zijn behandeling hier. “ Zieke mensen worden niet behandeld vanwege ophanden zijnde uitzetting Alie Westerhuis schreef PRIME over een Georgier in het Detencehntrum Schiphol als volgt: “ Ook heb ik in het Detentiecentrum op Schiphol de heer Kirzadze uit Georgie bezocht. Ik heb zijn medisch dossier opgevraagd , omdat de artsen gezegd zouden hebben dat zij geen behandeling starten tegen zijn ziekte omdat hij elk moment uitgezet kan worden. Met andere woorden, je bent wel ziek maar we kunnen niks doen omdat we niet zeker weten of we de behandeling af kunnen maken. Ik word opnieuw opgeroepen voor de zitting bij de Beklagcommissie in verband met het gestelde disproportionele optreden van Justitie tijdens de vreedzame sit-downactie van 18 februari 2009. “
Wij zouden het zeer op prijs stellen indien Nederland, dat zo zeer anderen aanspreekt op schendingen van mensenrechten, zelf zich eens zou buigen over de mensenrechten van de vreemdelingen in detentie.

IMANI IN RADIO NEDERLANDS

Justitie doet vreemde, opmerkelijke dingen.
Woensdag 4 maart 2009 was A.R. Imani aanwezig in het penitentiair ziekenhuis in Den Haag, maar hij was onvindbaar voor zijn advocate. In opdracht van de rechter moest deze advocate hem persoonlijk ontmoeten. Ze was daar om 9 uur in de ochtend en ze kreeg te horen van de verantwoordelijken dat hij naar Amsterdam gestuurd was. De advocate kwam met lege handen terug.

That is very inhumane. Today, it is the 19 th day that Mr. Alireza Imani is on hunger strike. He is kept alone with no visitation rights. His health condition is serious and getting worse. He is in need of medical attention. The lawyer who is assigned for him, hasn't met him even once in this 17 day, which is not very humanistic and professional of him of course! He is punished for defending his and his friend's rights. We believe it is against Netherlands ', Europe 's and world's standards of human rights to punish a person who's life is dedicated for human rights and freedom. We are certain he will be tortured and killed by Iranian Terrorist authorities upon deportation. We are asking all concerned organization to help us better their condition, free them from prison, attend their application, and stop deportations.

They were treated harshly and beaten and roughed up by prison authorities. Six of them are held in solitary confinement. In order to be difficult to locate, On Feb 27. 2009 they were displaced again. They are in hunger strike to protest not getting reply for their applications, threats of deportation, and the terrible condition of the prison. They are held at Bepentie centrum-Tenpo l64-1438 EJ Oudemeer Among these 31 people is Mr. Alireza Imani, an active member of South Azerbaijani Independence Party. We believe he is being held at Uitzet centrum, Rotterdam ,Eirport baan in Netherlands. He too is threatened to be deported to Iran . On behalf of World Azerbaijani Congress, WAC, I would like to raise the concern for deportation of Mr. Alireza Imani, activist on the South Azerbaijanis human right issues, and member of the South Azerbaijan Independent Party, GAIP. Asylum petition of Mr. Imani was denied by authorities of the “Holland Bureau of Immigration”. Mr. Imani is held at Bepentie Centrum-Tenpo 164-1438 EJ Oudemeer. We are worry about his health and hunger strike since Feb. 20th. South Azerbaijani issues are the most irritating to Islamic Republic of Iran, IRI, and for the same token South Azerbaijani activists are paying the highest price. Mr. Imani’s live is in jeopardy, if he is handed over to IRI government. We would like to request the authorities to reconsider, review and grant the asylum to him in the frame of law, in order to be able to settle and pursue the normal life. In advance, we would like to appreciate for your cooperation, and prioritizing to save the life of human race under the name of humanity.
